Contract Safety Manager – Phoenix Arizona

Safety Plus, Inc. is seeking a qualified individual for a Contract Safety Manager position on behalf of a client. This position requires a detail oriented professional capable of identifying and acting on risk and exposures identified through the work areas. This is a contract position, paid by the hour likely totaling 40 hours per week. Safety Plus is located on the beautiful Gulf Coast in Mobile, AL. We offer a wide range of safety services including program management, training, auditing, industrial hygiene monitoring, safety management software, contractor management software, and more. We also staff safety professionals on projects nation-wide. In this case, our client has a need for a Safety Professionals in Phoenix, AZ during the build out of a chip manufacturing facility. The project is currently running 5 days/40 hours per week but hours will ramp up towards the end of the 4th quarter with material and equipment releases. Responsibilities

  • Morning safety meetings and JSA review
  • Daily audits
  • Inspecting (PPE, equipment)
  • Reports to Project Manager
  • Interacting plant operations and with subcontractor safety managers on project
  • Training when applicable: could include orientations and work specific requirements
  • Basic computer skills for entering audit reports onto iPad and web site, project data and report updates as needed
  • Creating and maintaining a safe work environment for employees
  • Monitoring PPE usage compliance
  • Reliable vehicle to travel the short distance between locations (mileage paid for vehicle usage)

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working on construction projects, competent in general construction activities including: Crane and rigging, demolition, fall protection, and equipment usage in a congested area
  • Capable of passing a background check
  • Capable of climbing stairs and standing/walking for long periods.
  • Certifications – OSHA 30 Construction, OSHA 510, CPR/FA, (Previous Fab work experience,, OSHA 500, and BCSP Certifications preferred)
  • Capable of communicating at all levels and leading training when applicable
  • Competent working with an iPad to complete audits on location
  • Self-reliant and good communication skills as work will be completed in two locations 20% office / 80% onsite during equipment installation
  • Must have high levels of organization, written and verbal communication, and documentation skills
  • Capable of performing incident investigations when applicable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
